About HorseSouth Online | Interactive

For 10 years we offered HorseSouth in a full color, glossy hard copy. As many are aware, print media has been one of the hardest hit industries in the current world-wide financial struggle. HorseSouth was no exception. The decision to make the magazine online was not an easy one. We miss the smell of ink in the morning. Early in 2008, we made the decision to take the magazine "green" and print on 100% recycled paper and use only soy inks. It seemed that no one cared. We sure felt a lot better about the 1+ million pages that each printed issue created.

HorseSouth now falls under the umbrella of a company called Teadora Media. Teadora means "gift from God", one of the projects in line at Teadora is a new e-zine called Green Home & Farm. While we, at the Vanattia household, are not proficient at reuse, recycling and rethinking our carbon footprint, be believe strongly in the princple and do not view it as new. Both Kent and I had parents and grandparents that lived and still live with the "waste not ... want not" motto.

With our new ventures in mind along with our beliefs compounded by the fact that it costs several thousand dollars to print HorseSouth, we decided to go digital. Add folks, we LOVE it.

We can embed video in our pages, we can link the table of contents right to the article, link the continued on page ? to that page. Our flippable software makes reading the online version much like reading a magazine in hand. We regret that you can not really take it to the bathroom with you any longer. We can offer our advertisers a new and dynamic way to reach their reader. We can track our views.

Our subsription rate is growing at twice to three times what it did when we where a print only magazine.

We hope this helps you to understand our decision. It doesn't mean we will never be in print again, we just may. But it does mean that you'll be sure that you will always get much more than you pay for in a subscription to HorseSouth online.

The magazine's great editorial content has not changed. If anything, with the addition of audio and video ... this is HorseSouth on steriods.

We hope you enjoy it.
